Chapters 31-37

Doug realizes that he had asked Andy to go back into the Tuttle house to get his knife. That is why Andy died. Afterwards Doug is very depressed and he is no longer taking his prescription pills. Doug goes down to his basement to build Madham and get it ready for it's inauguration. Then all of a sudden his dad comes down and says that Doug and his parents will go to orientation at St. Stephen's Academy. While there, the counselor says that everyone there is either on medicine, like Doug is, or has a mental problem. This bums Doug out. When he returns from the orientation, he realizes that he only has 71 hours until he goes to St. Stephen's Academy. So he works very hard to finish Madham. Because of the explosives that he puts on the train that runs through Madham an explosion occurs and Doug is burned.  He imagines himself on a hill in a wheelchair looking over his city. He sees Andy and Andy starts having a conversation with Doug. The story ends with Doug in the hospital.
